The eleven-mile strand of pristine, internationally recognized beach is Kiawah’s diamond. In addition to walking, biking, sunning and swimming/playing in the ocean, guests enjoy dolphin watching, shelling, sand sculpting, bocci and other beach games. You can arrange kayaking, paddle boarding and charter boat trips for fishing or searching for pods of dolphins. Freshfields Village is located on John’s Island before crossing the bridge leading to the Kiawah security gate. The retail center offers a Harris Teeter grocery store, a post office, a medical clinic, banks, resort shopping and restaurants. It also has a village green where special events are staged, including art shows, concerts, and a Monday afternoon local farmer’s market.
Bohicket Marina is located on the road to Seabrook Island off the traffic circle near Freshfields. In addition to a fully functioning marina, this European-styled village offers spectacular sunset views, restaurants, and shopping. Oyster roasts and family carnivals are scheduled often.
